What would you define the best part of life?

For most it’s Happiness. What are you happy about today?  Happiness is defined as a Mental or Emotional state of well being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.  A variety of biological, psychological, religious and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources.  More definitions of Happiness here..

You know what makes me happy – treating people nicely. When you go to a restaurant and the waitress does an amazing job, tipping her for a job well done is deserving and also well bring great gratitude. Being nice just feels good. When it comes to your parents are you nice enough to them? You know they won’t be around forever and probably will be gone well before you are. So it’s important you take advantage of today and spend as much time as you can with them. Doing nice things for them is also a given. If you need an idea here are some things you can do. You can pay a cleaning company to clean their house up on Valentines day and send flowers to your Mother from your Father. She will never know and he will probably just say you’re welcome when she kisses him on the cheek for being such a loving husband.

For mothers day one year I hired a company to clean my mothers windows – – She had no clue they were coming, so apparently she dang near chased them off the front porch. After they convinced her the cleaning wasn’t going to cost her anything she welcomed them in with open arms. All the gifts money can buy often don’t compare with just being there for them. Sometimes all they want is to just talk and for you to tell them how much you love them. If your parents live close after you’re done reading this drive over and say hi to them. Maybe take your mother to lunch then to the beauty salon. Your father, well he will probably want to hit Sears and look at the tools. It may seem boring to you, but it means the world to them.

Here are some tips to being happier.

  1.  Don’t worry, be Happy – Happiness is more of an achievement than it is a gift from God.  He isn’t going to single handily make your happy.  However god will help you through hard times and happiness is easier found with him.
  2. Forgiveness – To hold a grudge is a form of stress.  It will build up deep in your stomach.  Have you ever felt the knot?  It isn’t healthy, so just forgive your enemies and move on.  You don’t have to be friends or hang out with them, just forgive and move on.
  3. Counteract Negative thoughts – We all have heard that little voice in our head saying things like, You can’t do this.  Or you aren’t good enough.  You need to set that little voice straight, cut it off and yell back at it, I can and will do this.  Just don’t scream at it in public, you may scare people.
